Sprint announced their new Any Mobile, Anytime within a day of AT&T’s announcement of A-List. It has been a while since any of the major U.S. mobile carriers have added new customer perks. Maybe this is a sign that the competition may be heating up.
Sprint
Sprint’s Any Mobile, Anytime feature provides unlimited calls to any mobile phone on any network and is available on plans starting at $69.99 per month.
AT&T
AT&T’s A-List provides unlimited mobile calling to and from five domestic phone numbers for individual plans and ten phone numbers for FamilyTalk plans. Customers will be able to manage their A-List online when it debuts on September 20th.
A-List is a perk that AT&T will provide in addition to its existing unlimited mobile to mobile and rollover minutes. AT&T is currently the only carrier to allow customers to keep their unused minutes.
A-List is available on individual Nation plans starting at $59.99 per month and FamilyTalk plans starting at $89.99 per month.
T-Mobile
T-Mobile made no new announcements this week, but has a few perks that are worth mentioning. myFaves gives customers unlimited calling to any five domestic phone numbers. Unlike AT&T’s A-List, myFaves is for outgoing calls and does not include additional numbers for family plans.
Verizon
Verizon also made no new announcements this week, but has some perks of their own. Unlimited mobile to mobile is offered on plans starting at $39.99. Friends & Family allows customers unlimited calling to five or ten numbers on any network. Five numbers are included on individual plans with 900 or more anytime minutes and ten numbers are included on family plans with 1,400 or more anytime minutes.
Read the Fine Print
It goes without saying, but be sure to read the fine print when choosing a plan and before signing a contract for service. All of the carriers have terms and conditions that apply to each of their features. In short, the terms unlimited and anywhere do not always mean what you think.
Let the Competition Begin
As technology improves, the consumer generally sees more bang for the buck. That hasn’t been the case recently with mobile calling plans. Though we have seen better phones and smartphones at more affordable prices, calling plans have been stagnant for many years. Hopefully, the Sprint and AT&T announcements this week are signs of increased competition that will benefit consumers.
